This is a beautiful 19th Century French porcelain blue ground urn with gilt mounts and stunning romantic panels.
The urn is in porcelain painted blue with two oval panels one with a floral motif, the other with a romantic scene depicting two cupids one with an arrow. Both oval panels have faded gilt reeds frames. The urn has an ormolu top trim in the shape of roses and an elegant bronze interior vase – fioriere, for a flower vase or flower composition. The urn is set on a very attractive and classical ormolu base.
The urn is a beautiful decorative object which exudes the sophistication of French interiors. I can describe this piece as an elegant vase which would grace elegant environments and would provide a finishing touch to important interiors.
Condition report: There is a dark mark at the bottom right of the floral panel. The interior of the rim of the bronze vase inside the urn has been repaired in some distance past. I t cannot be seen if for example flowers or a vase are inserted in the urn. All of the above are a testimony of the age and use of this very fine antique piece which is full of character.
