This is an impressive and important 19th C (c 1890) mahogany glazed bookcase display unit. The unit is in two parts, the upper glazed section encloses a display unit with adjustable shelves. The entire unit is lined in an elegant light green silk satin style fabric. To enhance any display, there are four vertically mounted tube electric bulbs on each side of the unit, all wired in but un-tasted.
There is a single drawer below which there is a double door cupboard with a single shelf. The unit is raised on a platform plinth.
This is a sturdy unit all in mahogany which would grace any elegant surroundings. There is some sun, light damage to the veneer by the front doors and above the drawer. We feel that this doesn’t necessarily detract from the beauty of this authentic and charming piece and therefore we rely on the discerning judgement of anyone interested in this lovely piece to make that decision.
