This is a sought after continental – possibly German, 19th C large blue bowl with gilt , floral motives and a hand painted scene depicting an idyllic vista by a lake.

The large bowl has stars painted on it giving the impression of the firmament at night interrupted by floral frames. The centre scene is mesmeric and incredibly picturesque.

The paintwork has been beautifully executed and the bowl if put upside down resembles the ceiling frescos of a historic church or palace.

The bowl is unmarked and unsigned.

I can describe this piece as an elegant large bowl which would grace elegant environments and would provide a finishing touch to important interiors. It has been used as a prop for the photographs of some of our furniture and you are invited to look at our online shop to appreciate the beauty of this piece.

Condition report: The bowl is in very good antique condition where the gilt along the rim is slightly worn and so is on one small area of the frame of the hand painted scene. Please review the photographs to see the items listed here.
