The image was painted with oil on panel and has been composed in an impressionistic manner. The perspective and chromaticity are well done.
The painting has been signed “E. Ivermee” and is dated on the back of the painting 1973.
Edward Ivermee's biography is unknown but what it is known that he belonged to the Royal Society of Marine Artists where in 1978 his name was listed and his work catalogued and put on display.
Brixham Harbour is located on the southern side of Tor Bay, Cornwall and boasts one of the largest fishing fleets in the UK, plus a thriving fish market to support it. The colourful images painted here can still be witnessed.
The painting is framed in a wooden moulded gilt frame with age patina.
