This is a very attractive and well proportioned early 19th Century (c 1820) flamed mahogany bow fronted chest with two short over three graduating long drawers. The chest retains all the original method of building – just check the dovetails of the drawers in the photographs. The drawers are furnished with brass key holes, original locks (no key is supplied but a suitable replacement should be obtainable if required) and round brass pulls.
The mahogany of the chest of drawers has a beautiful warm honey colour, good patina and is in overall good condition considering it is some 200 years old! The chest stands on outswept bracket feet.
It has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
I can describe this piece as a lovely, high quality classic Victorian antique furniture with a great deal of character.
Condition report: The chest dates back to circa 1820 and is almost 200 years old! The main casing of the chest shows original building material and construction methods. However, as with all antiques there are signs of small dents, fine scratches and chipped veneer like in the case of the bracket feet and a corner of the chest. The top of the chest has a small veneer chip on one of the corners. All of the above are a testimony of the age and use of this very fine antique piece of antique furniture which is full of character. Please review the photographs to see the items listed here.
