H Masser was an important and distinguished Victorian painter whose works are part of collections at York and Watford Museums. His paintings contribute to the Uncovering the Nation’s Art Collection as detailed in the BBC web pages “Your Paintings” at http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/artists/h-masser.
Masser’s work is included in prestigious collections and from time to time his beautifully and well detailed oil paintings come available. “Xmas 1895” signed and titled lower right, is an extraordinary painting of still life. The detail of the subject – seasonal winter fruit, nuts and holly, is a celebration of the artist’s ability to capture the essence of the festive season.
The painting bears the stamp of Robert Dyas, London EC - one of the leading and original Victorian London picture frame makers’.
The painting is framed in wooden frame.
