This delightful antique Regency (c 1815) mahogany Pembroke sofa table is an attractive and well proportioned piece of furniture. Its rectangular top has two leaves with a simple flat edge and rounded corners. Below the top is one long flush fitting frieze drawer with two round wooden knobs. At the opposite end is a dummy drawer. The table stands on a tapered facetted hexagonal stem and quadriform base with four downswept legs with brass animal paw castors.
The mahogany of the table has been bleached by light into a nice straw colour. It retains its original patina and is in good condition considering it is some 200 years old!
I can describe this piece as a charming, high quality Regency antique furniture with a great deal of character.
Condition report: The table dates back to circa 1815 and is some 200 years old! The table shows original building material and construction methods. However, as with antiques there are signs of age and use as follows: there are small dents and fine scratches to the top, leaves and legs. There are two darker marks on the top of the table and a small – hairline like shrinkage of the wood at one end. One of the round wooden knobs has damage to the base section. All of the above are a testimony of the age and use of this very fine old piece of antique furniture which is full of character. Please review carefully the photographs to see the items listed here.
