This is a very attractive and elegant Victorian (c 1850) dark mahogany chest with two small and three large graduated drawers. The drawers are furnished with attractive brass key holes, swan neck brass handles and brass locks (no key is supplied but a suitable replacement should be obtainable if required).

The chest has elegant reeded canted corners

The mahogany of the chest of drawers has a beautiful dark colour, good patina and is in overall good condition considering it is some 150 years old! The chest stands on a plinth base.

It has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

I can describe this piece as a lovely, high quality and elegant Victorian antique furniture with a great deal of character.

Condition report: The chest dates back to circa 1850 and is some 163 years old! The main casing of the chest shows original building material and construction methods. However, as with all antiques there are signs of small dents, fine scratches and old repairs like in the case of the right corner of the left drawer. The top of the chest is not original and it is of a modern wood made to blend with the rest of the mahogany. The left side panel of the chest has vertical wood shrinkage and various repairs at the base. The right panel has two main vertical wood shrinkages. All of the above are a testimony of the age and use of this lovely antique piece of furniture which is full of character. Please review carefully the photographs to see the items listed here.
