This is a beautiful and elegant rosewood card table with stunning inlays to the half moon top and skirt. This small demi-lune table has delightful and delicate satinwood inlays with intricate motifs. The table stands on elegant tapered legs – also with inlays, on spade feet, terminating in brass castors. The table when opened reveals green baize trimmed in black leather and gilt motifs. A back leg topped with green felt, extends as a stand for the top when used as a card table. The rosewood makes this item even more attractive with its figuring as evidenced from the images. This Sheraton revival late Victorian piece of furniture comes with a demi – lune shaped glass to protect the top. Circa 1890

Condition report: This fine example of late Victorian card table dates back to circa 1890 and is over 100 years old. The table shows original building material and construction methods. However, as with most antiques there are signs of age, use and more current interventions. One of the legs has been repaired and the structure under the table has been strengthened and repaired in the past. The green baize is slightly faded and it is worn in the middle where the table folds. All of the above is mentioned for accuracy and believed to be a testimony of the age and use of this very fine old piece of antique furniture.
