This is a beautiful 19th C painting by renown British artist William R Stone depicting a drover and sheep resting in a wooden lane. The wooded lane is infused with calm and is a lovely example of 19th century British landscape painting.
Stone was a prolific British visual artist who painted “Rush Hour on London Bridge with Fishmonger’s Hall” and “From an English Harbour Town” which are part of important private collections.
The work is signed lower right.
The oil on canvas is framed in a 19th C elaborate wood and gesso frame
